Tayvallich Primary School and ELC

Week beginning 13th March

3

After such a long update last week, this week’s is much shorter.

Cyber Skills Workshop

Simon and Finlay, our guests who visited on Wednesday from the Digital Team for our Cyber Skills Workshop were blown away by the ideas that the children in the P4 to 7 class came up with during their workshop. It is always fantastic when visitors are impressed by the manners, respectful behaviour and engagement of the children and our guests certainly were. Simon and Finlay were also delighted to be able to pop into the ELC, meet the boys and girls and see the fantastic new interactive panel that was recently installed.

Check out the photos here.

PATCH Project

Our P6 and 7 pupils also worked with Emily Love again on Thursday this week around personal safety and boundaries and her feedback was that they had some amazing conversations and ideas and that visiting was “a pleasure, as always.”

New Mental Health Support Platform – Kooth

I am very grateful to one of our parents for reminding me that there is a new online mental health support service available to 10 to 18 year olds in Argyll and Bute. Please see the poster here for more information about how to access the service.

Staffing

Mr Grundy will be leaving his Classroom Assistant post in Tayvallich ELC at the end of the week to take on supply work as an Additional Support Needs Assistant at the Joint Campus.

We wish him all the best and he will be missed very much by staff and pupils, as he has built strong relationships in the short time he has been in post.

Please help us to find a fabulous new member of the team by sharing the advert for the post in your networks:

Reports – follow-up

After progress reports went out last week, we are keen to offer you a follow-up conversation with your child’s class teacher/children’s class teachers in the week beginning 27th March, should you feel that this would be helpful. In order that we can plan this, please complete the Google Form that has been sent to you by email by FRIDAY 17th March, to show your preference.

The week ahead

On Wednesday 15th March, P7 pupils will be attending the drama production “Smoke Free Me” at the Joint Campus. Pupils should make sure that they wear school uniform on Wednesday,

Comic Relief

We will be taking part in activities for Comic Relief this Friday. Pupils may come to school in non-uniform, wear something red or even wear a red nose and there will be joke-related activities in classes to make sure that we have a fun day, while raising money for a great cause. We will not collect money in school but if you wish to make a donation, please use the Just-Giving link here

Mid-Argyll Music Festival – REMINDER AND APPEAL FOR HELP

As you may have heard the Mid Argyll Music Festival is back and will be taking place as a one day event for this year on Saturday 17th June 2023 with the hope that it will return in March 2024 with a week long event. Closing date for entries is 31st March 2023.

Further information can be found on the Festival’s Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/MAMF14/  and website https://midargyllmusicfestival.webador.co.uk/

We would love it if our pupils could take part and will do everything possible to work with staff to make it happen, although we are at slightly reduced capacity just now. If you are able to help in any way, please let me know.

Have a lovely week and don’t forget to get in touch if you need to.
