Sports Day 2026

What a day we had on Friday for Sports Day – a day of two halves. We had glorious sunshine for the morning events. Drew and Jodie from Mid Argyll Rugby Club did a fantastic job of refereeing our P1-3 and P4-7 Rugby teams from all 3 schools – Tayvallich won overall for the P1-3s and Glassary won for P4-7 – congratulations to both teams!

We then had our Paramedics Dodgeball on the Sports Court – led by Erin from Active Schools with Glassary coming out on top again!

Unfortunately our afternoon events did not go to plan – when the worst timed thunder storm came directly overhead, meaning that all children had to be taken back to school. We abandoned our throwing events and were very sad not to have done the races, frizbee golf or tug of war.

A huge thank you to Erin for all her organising – it was a fantastic day despite the weather – her parting words were – “we’ll try again next year!”

We feel that disappointment was turned around shortly afterwards though – thanks to Kirstie at Argyll Events and her inflatable disco, nerf gun shooting range, candyfloss and popcorn cart. We’re grateful to the parent councils of all three schools who made this end of term treat possible – and particularly to the Glassary parents who also provided the face painting.

We hope the children enjoyed the surprise!

Flower Show 2026

A reminder that the Tayvallich Flower Show takes place over the summer break. The confirmed date for this is Friday 31st July. All school pupils will have received a potato, sunflower seeds and marigold seeds to plant at home, along with all the instructions on how to grow them and how to submit your entries.

To have your sunflowers measured please contact Mo MacLaurin: mo.maclaurin@btinternet.com.

The children have also completed the art and photography categories in school time and these have already been submitted.

The full schedule is now available in the shop, should you wish to enter any further categories. Best of Luck!

End of Term Assembly

It was lovely to see so many of you at our end of term assembly yesterday. It was an emotional afternoon all round but a lovely send off for our 3 P7s who are moving up to High School in August. We can’t wait to see what they can achieve. Thank you to all the parents who contributed to our lovely staff gifts, you’re all very generous and we can guarantee they will be enjoyed over the holidays!

Reports

End of term reports were sent home yesterday either in bags or in person at the assembly. We were trying a different format this time round and it seemed to have worked well in some cases but not in others, our apologies if you were missing any information from last session (the November 2025 reports) which we had intended on including. Next year we will be looking at changing the timings of our reports and our parents evenings to bring us more in line with other schools so the format will likely change again and improve. We would very much like to remind you that your feedback on your child’s report is really valuable to us, so although we have reached the end of term we would welcome your comments from you and your child and these will be start us off nicely in the new term. Please email enquiries with your feedback when you get the chance.

Next Term

Pupils return to school on Monday 17th August. Thursday 13th and Friday 14th are in-service days. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or updates over the holidays and we will respond once we’re back.

Wishing you all a fantastic Summer Holiday!
