Sports Day 2026
We’re pleased to be sharing with you our arrangements for Sports Day 2026 – a joint event with Glassary and Craignish Primary Schools hosted by us here at Tayvallich Village Hall on Friday 26th June. As you’ll know from previous updates the children have been practising all the events in school so excitement is building!
On the day, we ask that all children come to school at the normal time of 9am, dressed for sports day and wearing clothes appropriate for the weather. Our events will be outside so please remember, sun hats and sun cream if it’s looking bright and waterproofs if it’s looking wet! Recommended sportswear would be a t shirt, jumper, tracksuit bottoms, leggings or shorts and trainers. Our school colour for the day is blue – pupils are invited to wear as much blue as they wish, however bibs will be provided for team events.
Pupils from Craignish Primary School and ELC will be joining us for some activities at school in the morning and pupils from Glassary Primary School will be joining us from 11am, when some of the team sports will take place.
Lunch will be 12.30 -1pm, when the children will have their packed lunches in the village hall. You can provide this from home, or you can order one through ipayimpact. Please note, there will be no hot lunch option, so if you wish to order a school packed lunch then please select specific diet for the day on ipay and email school with your choice of sandwich filling. The choices are: Cheese, ham or tuna. Orders must be placed before 12noon on Tuesday 23rd June.
Please also remember to send your child to school with a water bottle that we can take down to the hall with them and snacks for breaktime as normal.
Family and friends are welcome to join us after lunch, from 1pm onwards. When events will begin on the sports field adjacent to the village hall. We would love for you to join us, even if it’s just for some of the time. There should be ample parking at the hall for visitors from all 3 schools and we would love to see as many of you as possible cheering on your young people – feel free to also wear some blue!
Races are due to finish around 2pm when we have some fun activities planned for pupils to celebrate the end of the school year together. We will wrap up at 3.15pm, normal finishing time. All children should be collected from the village hall. We ask that when it’s time to head for home, you let Mrs Briggs know that you’re away, it’s important for us to know where each child is and who has collected them, as with any other school day.
We hope that you’re all looking forward to it as much as we are, if you’ve got any sports day related questions, please get in touch.
ELC Open Day Tuesday 23rd June
This Tuesday, 23rd June from 1.30pm we’ll be having an open afternoon, an opportunity to come in, explore and see what we have to offer. If you know any families with children of pre-school age or below, please let them know as we would love to welcome them and show them how amazing Tayvallich ELC is for little learners.
Tayvallich ELC re-opens in August and we cannot wait!
End of Term Assembly
Our end of term and leaver’s assembly will be Tuesday 30th June from 2pm. All parents are welcome to attend our final assembly of the school year, when we will be saying goodbye to our P7s who move up to high school and looking forward to the year ahead.
End of Term Arrangements
The last day of term is Wednesday 1st July, when we will close at 1.30pm. We have been advised that our catering team at Ardrishaig will be providing packed lunches that day. If you would rather provide a packed lunch from home, then you are welcome to do so and you should select packed lunch as normal.
Rights Respecting Silver Award
As you know, we recently achieved our Unicef Rights Respecting Silver Award. The Silver Award recognises that teaching and learning about, through and for rights is becoming established in all aspects of our school community and that we have a rights respecting ethos – empowering the children and young people of our school. We were delighted that our silver banner and certificate arrived in the post yesterday – addressed to Mrs Fraser who we could not have earned this award without!
The banner is so big, we weren’t sure that it was going to fit on our gate (but it does!)
Great Athlete Visit at Glassary Primary School
Thank you to everyone who raised money online and offline – we raised a phenomenal amount of money between the three schools through sponsorship. Great Athletes have provided us with a voucher for all 3 schools to use towards sports equipment for £1155 – that’s £385 per school! We will all be involved in choosing what we would like to spend the money on in the new term.
Beach Clean
Tayvallich Primary School Parent Council would like to thank everyone who came out and beach cleaned last weekend! A huge area was covered and lots of rubbish was prevented from going back into our sea.
