Great Athlete Visit at Glassary Primary School

What a great day we had at Glassary on Monday. There were a lot of children in one school but it was fantastic to have everyone together again – and to have the Kilmichael park to use at break times!  Jonny Paterson was a real inspiration. Although the weather was not on our side for the fitness circuit, the children put in 110% regardless and we were very impressed with their efforts!

It was great to meet Jonny and hear all about his career and how he got there. As a baby he was told he wouldn’t ever walk or talk, but we can confirm he certainly knows how to talk! It was an honour to meet such a great Scottish athlete – he brought his tops from the three paralympic games that he was part of the Scottish team for and even one of his medals.

Our sponsorship money for this event should have been collected by all 3 schools today and we can’t wait to hear what our total was. Huge thanks to all the friends and family who supported our pupils to take part in this event, we hope it’s something that they will always remember – and if we can get some new PE equipment then that’s even better!

P.7 Transition Days

The P7s have had their first couple of days at the high school this week and it all went very well. They will be there again on Monday the 15th and Tuesday the 16th of June. We will see them back in P7 on Wednesday.

While P7 are away next week, the rest of the school will have a go at moving up into their new primaries that they’ll be going into after the holidays. So, our current P4s will become P5’s and join the 5-7 class for the day – it will be lovely to have an insight into what the classes next year will look like for all levels.

Beach Clean this weekend

Tayvallich Primary School Parent Council have arranged their annual beach clean for this Saturday, 13th June. In association with The GRAB Trust, we will generate funds for every metre of shoreline that we cover. We’re setting off at 10am from Tayvallich front green, where litter pickers will be available for those who would like them. You are welcome to cover areas of shoreline around Tayvallich, Carsaig, Crinan and Achnamara.

Sports Day 26th June

Sports Day is planned for Friday 26th June, when we will welcome pupils, parents and staff from Glassary and Craignish Primary Schools to join us at Tayvallich.

The activities have been planned by Erin Downie at Active Schools along with the young leaders from each of the three schools. Erin has been here again this week supporting our young leaders to teach some of the team activities to the younger members of the school. Plus, they’ve been practising the individual activities in PE this term – so they should all be ready and raring to go by the time Sports Day comes around!

Events will begin at 11am and finish at the end of the school day at 3.15pm. We will make use of the sports field and sports court at the Village Hall. Please provide a packed lunch for sports day so that we can enjoy them inside the hall.

We can exclusively reveal that team Tayvallich’s colour for Sports Day will be…. BLUE! We will have coloured bibs for team events, but pupils are encouraged to wear as much of their team colour as they want on the day!

We hope to share the sports day timetable next week, so you have an idea of what events you might want to come along for. We would love to see as many of you there as possible! As always, any questions please just get in contact with us on the email addresses below.

Leavers Assembly

Our end of term and leaver’s assembly will be Tuesday 30th June from 2pm. All parents are welcome to attend our final assembly of the school year, when we will be saying goodbye to our P7s who move up to high school and looking forward to the year ahead.

End of Term Arrangements

The last day of term is Wednesday 1st July, when we will close at 1.30pm. We have been advised that our catering team at Ardrishaig will be providing packed lunches that day. If you would rather provide a packed lunch from home, then you are welcome to do so and you should select packed lunch as normal.
