Tayvallich Primary School and ELC

Week ending 8th March

Music

It was fantastic for us to see you face to face or talk on the phone about your child’s progress this week at our parents’ evenings. We are very proud of the progress that every single child has made this session and know you will be too.

Upcoming events

Don’t forget to check the school calendar for upcoming events in addition to those detailed below:

Fabulous work

Don’t forget to look at the class Seesaw accounts to see evidence of your child’s fantastic work as well as ideas for how you can support learning at home and details of homework.

Lunchtime clubs

We are delighted to have the Earthlings environment club running on Tuesdays and the music club running on Thursdays. The children are really enjoying these and taking a really positive part in leading activities in them.

Whole School Trip

We are very excited about next Wednesday’s trip to the SeaLife Centre! Please make sure that you have returned the consent slip on Monday, if you have not done so already.

Red Nose Day

On Friday 15th March we are doing something funny for money.  There will be baking, joke-telling and some surprise activities too.  Mrs Carter will tell jokes for a minimum of 15 minutes during lunch break but if £50 pounds has not been raised on our just giving page by the time she reaches the end of 15 minutes, her jokes will continue until that target has been raised. The children and staff have been warned that her jokes are VERY bad……

Please donate whatever you can using our justgiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/tayvallich-primary-school-1709913147341?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Ftayvallich-primary-school-1709913147341&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share

Staffing

After the Easter holidays Mrs Rowe will be starting in her new post on a part time basis. She will still be teaching the P1-4 class on Thursday and Friday each week to provide continuity for the class whilst we recruit for her post. Mrs Dixon will continue to teach P1-4 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as she does now. We are very lucky to have secured Mrs Goodwin to teach P1-4 on Mondays, she is hugely experienced and the children have been taught be her on supply several times in this past year.

Primary 7 into S1 transition – for parents of our P7s

We will be sharing information sent to us from Lesley Donald at the High School with parents of P7 pupils soon but please save this date as she will be holding a meeting for you via Google Meet to talk to you about plans for the weeks  and months ahead: Tuesday 26th March at 5pm

Message on behalf of Tayvallich Primary School Parent Council

The next Parent Council meeting which will be held at the School on Tuesday 12th March from 7pm.

As with every parent council meeting, every parent, member of staff and members of the community are welcome to attend – these meetings are not just for committee members – and we benefit greatly from all input.

A Parent Council meeting can be a chance to hear an update from the head teacher and discuss latest and upcoming changes at the school (for example, staffing) and raise any questions and concerns. Find out how our most recent fundraising has gone and what we’ve got planned for the future and listen and contribute to important discussions around our school and the school experience.

Equally we would love some new members to join the team – so if you fancy a stint on the Parent Council then please have a chat with one of our current members. We know we’re always very lucky at events to have so many helping hands but it would be nice if some of that help was around more often!

The agenda is still open for Tuesday evening’s meeting, so please let us know if there’s something you’d like to add to the discussion – email: tayvallichparentcouncil@gmail.com

If you can’t make it along in person and would still like to attend, there’s also an opportunity to join via the teams link below.

We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.

Thanks so much,

Tayvallich Primary School Parent Council
