Christmas in Tayvallich Primary School and ELC is always just magical and this year has been no exception!
One of the highlights of December was our fabulous Christmas Dinner, prepared by Margaret and her brilliant team in the School Meals team and served beautifully by Peter. Thank you so much to them all for feeding us so well!
Christmas lunch 2024 – Tayvallich Primary School and ELC
We were delighted that so many family members and friends could join us for our end of year Christmas Showcase on Tuesday, to celebrate our children and their achievements. It was fantastic to see the huge range of skills and musical talents that our pupils have and for so many of our visitors to stay and have a look at our classrooms and the children’s fabulous work.

Our ELC
Although our ELC is currently in inactive status, we are looking forward to welcoming children back next session.
Registration week for ELC pupils in Argyll and Bute is Monday 20th to Sunday 26th January 2025.
Please share this information widely with anyone you know who may wish to make the most of what we have to offer:
Are you looking for the best ELC setting for your child? Are you considering a shared placement? Then please consider us as one of your choices. In our HMIE Inspection last session, we were described as “Very Good”.
We are holding an open afternoon on Friday 17th January.
Come along to our purpose-built ELC class at Tayvallich Primary School to see the wonderful environment and the bespoke experiences that we offer. Meet our friendly, experienced staff team and hear from other families about all that we do to give our children and families the best learning opportunities possible.

Education Scotland Visit
We recently received an email from Amy McDonnell, at Education Scotland, asking if she and some colleagues can come and visit us, to look at our practice around Health and Wellbeing in Tayvallich Primary School. She has been reviewing recent HMIE Inspection reports and noted the commendation that Tayvallich Primary School received for our effective approaches to Health and Wellbeing, after our inspection in November 2023. By visiting schools, HMIE aim to observe how their positive strategies for the HWB curriculum and Responsibility of All (RoA) are being implemented. The topics they would like to discuss with staff and students include:
- Enhancing mental and emotional wellbeing
- Promoting physical wellbeing
- The impact of poverty of Health and Wellbeing curriculum
- The influence of the school’s life and ethos on Health and Wellbeing outcomes
- Staff wellbeing and professional development
- Concerns and challenges within the HWB curriculum or RoA
I have confirmed with Amy that she will be visiting on Friday 31st January. She will be in touch nearer the time to make arrangements about exact timings and she very much looks forward to meeting our team and our pupils in the New Year.
And Finally
Make sure you look out for the much anticipated School Magazine that has been produced by the P5 to 7 class and will provide you with lots of fascinating reading and fun festive activities to do over the festive period.
Pupils will be bringing home a print copy in bags today but you can also check out the electronic version here:
