Garden Tidy & Red Nose Day- Friday 20th March

As part of our Red Nose Day celebrations, we’re excited to invite families to join us for our “Gnome More Mess!” Garden Tidy Day. Come along, roll up your sleeves, and help us give our school grounds a bright spring refresh… and feel free to dress as a garden gnome or in any fun, garden‑themed outfit. Red noses very much encouraged!
What to Bring
- Gardening gear – gloves especially
- Snips, spades, shovels, buckets, trowels, and other hand tools
- A big smile and plenty of enthusiasm!
Important Information
- For safety reasons, please do not bring any electric or fuel‑powered garden tools.
- Please arrive at 12:45pm for a 1:00pm start, when we’ll begin by grouping everyone into their gnome colonies.
- Enjoy some gnome‑themed snacks prepared by Food Club and take part in some light-hearted games.
If you haven’t yet emailed enquiries to confirm your attendance, please do so as soon as possible—family members and friends are very welcome!

Spring Clean Week
Next week is Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Spring Clean Week, a nationwide campaign encouraging communities to tackle litter together. We’ll mark this through a range of activities, including live lessons and a garden tidy. We’d also love to hear how you support keeping Scotland beautiful at home.
We’re excited to share work from our P5–7s, who have entered a Robopreneurs competition by creating a tech-based product pitch to help the environment. Please see the links to their entries below—and keep your fingers crossed that we make it to the next round!
P4-7 Rugby
Our block with Arran Martin has now come to an end. We are very grateful to him for the wonderful opportunity he has provided, and you’ll be pleased to hear that there should be no more muddy clothes for a while!
P7s Extended Transitions
Every Wednesday afternoon, our P7 pupils will be continuing their 10‑week Enhanced Transition Programme designed to support their move to High School.
Childsmile
Childsmile will be carrying out their routine visit on Monday 23rd. This is not a dental inspection; they will simply be checking that our toothbrushing routines in school are being carried out correctly.
Art Competitions
A message from Heart of Argyll Wildlife Organisation:
“It’s International Biodiversity Day on 22nd March and here at the Argyll Beaver Centre we are celebrating it by launching an art competition. Please create a piece of artwork that depicts Wetland Biodiversity. It can be any medium, including photography. But it must be all your own work. Adults and children can enter, the child’s entry should have their age marked on the artwork. Photos of the entries need to be submitted by email by 20th March to info@argyllwildlife.scot We have a professional local wildlife artist judging the competition!
The winning artwork will be hung in the Argyll Beaver Centre for a while and we would like permission to use it on our social media channels and in our newsletter. The Argyll Beaver Centre is a member organisation that strives to improve wetland biodiversity in Argyll. We have fantastic engineers in our team, namely the BEAVERS themselves!
If you would like to become a member you can do so here”
Interviewing for our DHT
As you will know, we have been interviewing for our DHT position this week. We would like to thank the parents and pupils who took part in the process—their contributions greatly strengthen the ethos and voice of our school community. More information regarding staffing will follow soon.
