Tayvallich Primary School and ELC

Week beginning 5th June

Leavers 1

Dear families

Just a brief update from me in between my usual fortnightly blogs with some information that you may find useful and a reminder of some key dates between now and the summer.

Staffing update

I am absolutely delighted to let you know that we have appointed Mrs Lisa Briggs to the post of Clerical Assistant following interviews last week.

Mrs Briggs will start in post after the summer and we know that she will be a fantastic addition to our team.

Class organisation and staffing for August.

Following extensive discussions over recent weeks and at our Inservice day on May 26th, we have made the decision that class structure and staffing will be as follows in August:

P1 to 4 – Mrs Rowe

P5 to P7 – Miss Forgrieve (4 days) and Miss Fraser (1 day)

We are extremely fortunate that Miss Fraser will be able to continue to work in the P4 to 7 class and ensure a smooth transition and handover to Miss Forgrieve, who will take over the main class teacher role in the class.

Hoodies

It was very lovely to see the P7 Leavers’ Hoodies being modelled last week, in spite of the warm weather. Many thanks to the P7s, their parents and particularly Mrs Rodwell for organising these.

Music Festival

Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Mid-Argyll Music Festival that was scheduled for 17th June has been postponed.

New School Sign

Have you seen it? At last we have a shiny new school sign, thanks to our Property Services Officer!

As far as I am aware, I will be able to access my email when I am away on Arran and plan to check it morning and evening.

Please be reminded also of our communication policy in case you need to be in touch while I am away:

If you have any messages or information that you need to share with school you must use the following channels to do this:

Absence:

If your child has an unplanned absence from school (for example due to illness) we require you to let us know this and the reason for the absence, either by telephoning the school office on 01546 870220 and speaking to someone or leaving a voicemail or by sending an email to enquiries-tayvallich@argyll-bute.gov.ukbefore 9.15am on the day of the absence.

If your child is going to be off for a planned absence (for example a medical appointment), please telephone or email about this with as much notice as possible.

Any other information:

If you need us to know about any changes in your child’s life that may affect them at school or have questions or queries about something that has happened or is going to happen in school, please contact me by phoning 01546 605049 to speak with me or leave a voicemail, or email lena.carter@argyll-bute.gov.uk.

I will always endeavour to respond to you within 2 working days and ensure that key information is shared with other staff as required.

If you require urgent assistant or have an emergency involving your child during the school day, please be aware that school may not be able to respond immediately.

Please consider calling your GP, the emergency services or Children and Families Social Work for help.

If you need to be informed about anything urgent in relation to your child during the school day (for example illness or an accident), a staff member will contact one of the approved emergency contacts whose details you have shared with us.
