Our HMIE Inspection

Well, we are all ready and excited to welcome our visitors this week for our HMIE Inspection. We are very much looking forward to showing off our school and learning.

Last Week’s Events

Last week saw two exciting events in our school community.

Parental Engagement Event – Working together to help our children learn.

On Tuesday night we were delighted that some of our parents could join us for our session on how adults can best work together across school and home to support our children’s learning. The discussions were fantastic and we are now determined to work out how we can get more of you along to our next session.

If you couldn’t make it, please check out this video which will give you an idea of the topics we covered:

The links to the video clips I mention are in the description underneath.

Children in Need

Also, last week on Friday we did our absolutely amazing Tayvallich best to raise money for Children in Need.

Spots, PJs, cakes, Duck races, poetry and all sorts of art activities meant that we reached an incredibly total of….. drumroll…..

 £245!!!

We are so proud of our children for raising this amount and send a big thank-you to all of you who donated. We would also like to give special thanks to Eileen and our P6 fundraising lead for organising the activities.  You can see photos of the day here: https://www.tayvallich.argyll-bute.sch.uk/children-in-need-day/

Music sessions

I know that the children will have told you all about the wonderful music sessions that Sarah Phizacklea has been leading this term. You can check some of the photos of P5 to 7 and their “Ukelele Dreams” here: https://www.tayvallich.argyll-bute.sch.uk/music-with-sarah-ukelele-dreams/

You may also have heard about the song that Sarah has written for us around our school values of “Ready, Respectful, Safe.” If you would like to sing the song with your child, you can find the words here: http://www.tayvallich.argyll-bute.sch.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/Ready-respectful-safe.pdf

The tune is based on Queen’s “Another One Bites The Dust”. Warning – once you have it as an earworm, you will not be able to stop singing it!

Reports

Reports will be issued on Monday so please check bags for them. I was very proud to read through them all and see how much progress our children have made so far this term.

Updated Special Diets Procedure

Please see the new guidance around children who require special diets and use the Argyll and Bute Council Catering Service here: https://www.tayvallich.argyll-bute.sch.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/SpecialDietsProcedure_FORISSUE_V2.1.pdf

If your child requires a special diet, you must ensure that you have completed the Request Form mentioned in the guidance, which can be accessed from us in school.

I will be quite busy this week with our visitors but as always, if you need anything, drop me an email or leave me a message on my voicemail and I will get back to you as soon as I can, or, if it is more urgent, contact school using our communication protocol which you can find here:   https://www.tayvallich.argyll-bute.sch.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Tayvallich-Primary-School-Communication-Protocol-30.8.23.pdf

Have a great week.

Lena
