This week has given us numerous reasons to be proud of the children, as always!

Sustainable Development Goals and Children’s Rights

Thanks to Miss Logan, the children have taken part in a fantastic programme over the last 4 weeks, which has allowed children in Dubai to communicate with children in Scotland to discuss the sustainable development goals.  They have written some fabulous letters which you can check out here:

LANDS25

The P5 to 7s represented us on Wednesday at this fantastic event which was part of Scottish Learning For Sustainability Week. They took part in an exciting range of indoor and outdoor STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities and discovered the learning and employment opportunities rooted in the lands of Argyll and Bute from local and national organisations.

The children were engaged, inquisitive, knowledgeable and very respectful. As staff, we were told time and time again throughout the day by the partners delivering the activities that our pupils were fantastic – something we already knew, of course – but so very lovely to hear it from others too!

Visit from MacLeods

On Thursday the P5 to 7 children were extremely lucky to have a visit from Stuart MacDonald at MacLeods. MacLeods are celebrating their 50th anniversary this and are undertaking 50 special things throughout the year for themselves and the communities they serve. As part of this, Stuart came in and offered the children some expert advice on constructing their models of a climate smarter school, which they will be entering into the Stemovators STEM competition in Oban on Tuesday 6th May.  Stuart was extremely impressed with the children and we are very grateful to him for giving up his time.

Parent Council

On Wednesday we had a great Parent Council Meeting and the PC let us know about upcoming fundraising events which we will add the school calendar but you can also save the date for now:

27th April – Beach Clean

Saturday 10th May – Car Wash and Coffee morning.

The children have also asked that parents might come in and do some of the annual garden tidy on a Friday. You can see their letter here: http://www.tayvallich.argyll-bute.sch.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Garden-Farm-Club-Letter-to-the-Parent-Council.pdf

The date for this is going to be Friday 16th May.

Recycled furniture

As you may know from the children, we have upgraded our furniture in the P5 to 7 classroom and therefore have some items which we are offering to anyone who might be able to use them. Please see the list attached with this update email and let us know if you could make use of anything.

Fabulous families

This week we were delighted that Savanna Murdoch came and supported the children and gardening club. It has also been wonderful to have Eilidh Campbell in on Thursday afternoons this term to help the children with their learning and we are looking forward to her continuing with this after the holiday.

Many thanks indeed to all of our family supporters.

Please remember that we finish at 2.30pm next Friday for the holidays are return at 9am on Tuesday 22 April.

Have a lovely weekend.
