Junk Animals

We had lots of recycling as the blue bins aren't being collected at the moment.  We used different kinds of recycling materials (cardboard, plastic and metal) to make animals!

Sports day!

We had a sports day at Ashfield and six schools went. We were put into teams that had about eight people in it. The teams were named after animals like an osprey, an otter and a red deer.

We made periscopes last week.  A periscope allows you to see over things and around things.  The Royal Navy use them.  We made them out of card and two mirrors. They work well. We are learning about light and reflections in science.

Science Centre Trip

The whole school of Tayvallich primary went on a school trip to the Glasgow Science Centre. At eight o’clock in the morning we got on a big coach and set off on our way to Glasgow, we picked up the rest of the class at Bellanoch and then kept going.

We are Recruiting

Tayvallich, and our partner school, Glassary are looking for a new head teacher. Are you an experienced educator who is passionate about learning and teaching? If so, this may be the next exiting part of your life.

We are passionate about our environment and outdoor learning, we love music and performing and we believe that our school is very good at promoting positive values as well as our core curricular areas of literacy, numeracy and health and well-being.

For information about the school, please give us a call on 01546 870220.

Health Week- April 2017

Glassary arrived at Tayvallich, then we split into groups to try out a range of activities.

We started off with our daily mile then there was a round robin of activities, including rounders, painting with natural materials, team games, circus skills(P1-5) and country dancing (P6-7).

Ellie Dubois gave the Primary 1-5s a wonderful circus skills session.

After a picnic lunch in the playpark, the pupils could choose whether they wanted to play football on the playing field, play games at the park or just chill out during their break times.

Health Week

We held a health week in school and participated in a variety of activities. We made homemade fruit and vegetable smoothies and healthy sandwiches which were delicious. We cooked nettle soup and bush bread outdoors which was very tasty. We participated in a yoga lesson which showed us how to do mindful breathing and stretching. We met with Glassary Primary School and held a health day which included rounders, king of the ring, circus skills, painting to music and ceilidh dancing.  Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a fantastic day!

Field trip to Barnluasgan

On Friday 17th March our class met up with the P5-7 class from Glassary for a very wet field trip at Barnluasgan!
We split into two groups of mixed schools. One group worked with Julia from Kilmartin House Museum to search for worms, millipedes and centipedes. The other group worked with Pete and Oly from the Heart of Argyll Wildlife organisation to examine newts and then go pond dipping. We also spotted lots of signs that the beavers have been active around the loch.

Welcome to our new ELC class blog page. We will use this page to keep you updated about lots of the learning and activities that the children take part in. We will also add photos to the Gallery page - please take a look!
